Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team. You’ll be a key player in maintaining the physical integrity, safety, and operations of our properties. This includes responding to service requests, completing unit turns, and ensuring our residents enjoy a safe, comfortable living environment. You’ll report directly to the Community and/or General Manager and work within Full Circle’s values and standards.
 

About Jigzibik: (jeeg’-zee-beek) 

Jigzibik is the first urban Native affordable housing project in Chicago. It is a 45-unit multifamily development that includes a 1st floor commercial space occupied by service provider California Indian Manpower Consortium, and amenity spaces such as a green roof, fitness center, and gathering hall. As an integrated permanent supportive housing community, Jigzibik is intentionally designed to address barriers that Native Americans experience in accessing housing in Chicago, such as chronic homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders, and chronic medical conditions. 

Key Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician II, you'll help maintain the safety, appearance, and overall condition of the community by:

  • Completing service requests and repairs in a timely, professional manner
  • Preparing vacant apartments for new residents, including unit turns and make-ready work
  • Performing plumbing, electrical, appliance, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance repairs
  • Conducting daily inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Maintaining building interiors, exteriors, common areas, and grounds
  • Responding to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call rotation
  • Following OSHA safety standards and company maintenance procedures
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
  • Delivering outstanding customer service while building positive relationships with residents

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-time maintenance experience or experience in a related field
  • Working knowledge of residential multi-family maintenance functions
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Thorough understanding of water and gas cutoffs, fixture cutoffs, and sewer cleanouts
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and complete repairs independently
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • HVAC certification a plus!

Physical Requirements

  • Highly active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving of items weighing over 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment
  • Requires the ability to talk and hear while performing job duties

Location: Jigzibik; Chicago, IL; Albany Park neighborhood

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday; On-call rotation required for evenings, weekends, and holidays required

Salary: $25.00-$28.00; based on experience

Travel: This position requires occasional rotation between neighboring properties in the area.
